A man was found dead late Friday morning in a south Minneapolis alley, and police say they suspect he was the victim of homicide.

The scene where numerous officers were investigating is an east-west alley south of W. 39th Street between Blaisdell and Pillsbury Avenues, said police spokesman John Elder.

Upon arriving at the scene shortly after 11 a.m., police and emergency medical responders saw that the man was dead and had suffered a head injury, Elder said.

The man's identity has yet to be released. No arrests have been made, and there's no immediate word on how the man suffered his injury.

David Brauer, who lives nearby, said officers had the alley sealed off with police tape and were questioning neighbors about what they might have seen or heard.

Police said that anyone with information about this case should call their tip line at 612-692-8477.
