Parks throughout Minneapolis are gearing up to hold safe, family-friendly annual Halloween "haunted and not so haunted" celebrations, starting next weekend.

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board said many of its events are meant for preschool-age children, while others are suitable for all ages.

Special Halloween events include a party with a circus theme at Pearl Park, from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Oct. 31.

The party will include a bounce house, carnival games and performers, including as a juggler and a magician.

Other events include:

• Camden Haunted House, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26, 29 and 31 at Folwell Park.

• Minnehaha Falls of Fun Halloween Party at Minnehaha Park from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 26.

Other free community parties featuring games, treat bags, refreshments and other fun activities will take place in parks across Minneapolis.

Many events are free or have a minimal cost.
