A body removed from the Mississippi River near Fort Snelling this week was identified Friday as a teenage girl who jumped into the water with her boyfriend more than two weeks ago from a downtown Minneapolis bridge, authorities said.

Deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office pulled the body from a channel Wednesday afternoon after a fisherman made the sighting shortly after 11 a.m. and notified authorities.

Erika R. Borgstrom, 16, of Roberts, Wis., committed suicide by drowning, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Friday.

Borgstrom jumped with her boyfriend from the Stone Arch Bridge in downtown Minneapolis on May 14. The body of the boyfriend, 18-year-old Dakotah Coach, was recovered last week from near the Ford Dam on the Mississippi River in St. Paul.
