Kinderberry Hill staff member Mandy Blake was dressed as the Cat in the Hat as she read a Dr. Seuss book Friday to preschool students at Kinderberry Hill in downtown Minneapolis, where they celebrated Read Across America Day with a picnic at lunchtime.

The annual event marks Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Its mission is to encourage parents to nurture a love of reading by sharing a book with their children.
