The Minneapolis Police Department unveiled a new three-wheeled vehicle Tuesday to patrol downtown.

The T3 personal mobility vehicle, valued at just below $10,000 and designed with direct input from law enforcement, can reach up to 25 miles per hour. It is made for maneuvering through crowds and tight spaces.

The operator stands on a 9-inch raised platform, which improves crowd visibility for officers but allows for interaction.

And it is kind to the environment: T3s are quiet, have an integrated LED lighting system and run for less than 10 cents per day. It runs on a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet that can be charged in three to four hours.
