An electrical pole fire knocked out power Saturday night in areas of south Minneapolis.

Power was knocked out to about 5,600 customers, Xcel spokeswoman Patti Nystuen said. According to an Xcel map, the outage was concentrated in an area between Interstate 35W and Hiawatha Avenue S. and Interstate 94 and 42th Street.

The company had crews on the scene and wasn't expecting an extended outage, Nystuen said. On Twitter and online message boards, some south Minneapolis residents who lost power were reporting it had been restored.
