Early into its fourth season, the Uptown Market in Minneapolis will hold its final event on Sunday.
Brendan Jordan, chair of the market's board, said Wednesday that even though the market was financially solvent, the all-volunteer group didn't have a strong enough customer base to sustain another year.
"We had a strong start in a new location," Jordan said. "But after three market events, we realized we didn't have the capacity as a volunteer board to run the quality of market that we all expect of ourselves."
The market, which features local farmers, vendors and artisans, was started in 2009. Its current season was supposed to run from June to the end of September.
Instead, Uptown Market's last event will be Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the parking lot behind Intermedia Arts at 2822 Lyndale Av. S.
