No arrests in Nizzel's killing; services are set

The investigation into the death of 5-year-old Nizzel Anthony George continued Thursday, police said, but there had been no arrests. Nizzel died Tuesday morning at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale shortly after he was shot in the back as he slept on a couch in his grandmother's house in north Minneapolis. Police later that day seemed to indicate they had a strong lead, saying an ongoing dispute involving some of the people in Nizzel's house and another group had played a role in the shooting.

Nizzel had just finished kindergarten at Zanewood Community School in Brooklyn Park, according to his grandmother. He enjoyed riding his bike and this summer had spent a lot of time at a community swimming pool near his grandmother's house.

A memorial has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at 4500 Bryant Av. N., near the house where he was shot. His funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Temple International Ministries, 1201 W. Broadway.

A fund for his family has been established by MADDADS. Donations are being accepted at any M&I Bank location. Make donations payable to MADDADS for the benefit of Nizzel Anthony George.
