Gunfire in downtown Minneapolis just after bar closing early Monday has left four people wounded, with one of them shot by police, authorities said.

The man wounded by police is in the Hennepin County Medical Center and under police custody, said Sgt. Stephen McCarty.

A second man, a 20-year-old from Minneapolis, also was apprehended.

All four who were shot are expected to survive.

According to McCarty:

Three people among a crowd outside the Gay 90's bar were shot and wounded shortly before 2 a.m. Police said they do not believe the three were the intended targets. Police records list them as men, ages 19 and 20.

Officers in the area heard the gunfire and saw two armed men fleeing. One was quickly apprehended, but the other "displayed a gun," McCarty said. That prompted one of the officers to shoot the man.

McCarty said it's still unclear what prompted the violence, but he added that it was not connected to Pride Weekend festivities that had just wrapped up in the area.
