Martell Taylor has previous conviction for child sex assault.
A convicted sex offender has been accused of assaulting an 8-year-old boy left in his care by the boy's mother. Minneapolis police said Tuesday that Martell Taylor, 26, with a listed address of a homeless shelter, was charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and booked into Hennepin County jail.
Date of the incident was not in police records, but authorities said they interviewed the boy's mother June 6. Police said the assault occurred in the Salvation Army downtown.
He has convictions for robbery and failing to register as a predatory offender, court records indicate. According to police Lt. Gregory Reinhardt, he also was convicted of sexually assaulting a boy.
