Latest charges said 40-year-old man had videos of child pornography, but he's also accused of trying to coax teen girl into prostitution.
A Stillwater man already accused in Washington County of trying to solicit a 13-year-old girl for prostitution on Facebook has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.
Shane Allen Werlein, 40, was indicted Thursday as part of Project Safe Childhood, the U.S. attorney's office in Minneapolis said. The project is a national initiative to combat the sexually exploitation of children via the Internet.
Werlein was charged March 1 in Washington County District Court on two felony counts. Using the name "Ashley Brick," he allegedly sent the 13-year-old a message on Facebook. The girl "unfriended" Ashley, but she continued to receive instant messages, and was asked if she wanted to "make a lot of money" touching men and performing oral sex on them, the complaint said.
On March 4, police recovered seven videos from Werlein's computer showing minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the federal indictment says. Kevin Giles
