Body found floating in water at St. Croix Marina

Last update: November 13, 2009 - 9:37 PM

Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating Friday at the St. Croix Marina in Hudson, Wis.

Authorities were called at 12:40 p.m. after a marina employee found the body floating near a pier, one slip over from a Hudson police boat.

The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office and Hudson police are investigating the death.

Authorities know the man's identity but will not release his name until his family has been notified, said John Shilts, chief deputy at the Sheriff's Office.

The man, who was about 60 years old, is believed to have been a member of the marina, Shilts said. Marina employees reported seeing him alive Thursday afternoon.

The man's body was pulled from the water Friday afternoon and sent to the Ramsey County medical examiner's office, which will determine the cause of death.
