YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
A woman who was there when Timothy E. Williams was shot to death in the parking lot of his apartment building in Little Canada last Sept. 7 -- and who went on the lam with one of the suspects -- was sentenced Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court for her role in the case.
Shawnna M. Schiell, 21, who is seven months pregnant, was given a stayed sentence of a year in the workhouse and put on probation for two years. She pleaded guilty to aiding an offender. The plea agreement called for the charge to be sentenced as a gross misdemeanor.
Schiell has spent two days in custody and won't have to spend any more time behind bars if she completes the conditions imposed by District Judge Margaret Marrinan.
She must complete her GED, obtain and maintain employment, get counseling, submit a DNA sample, perform 100 hours of community service and pay a $50 fine plus court costs.
Schiell was the on-again, off-again companion of Andre D. Davis, who pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder in Williams' death. He was sentenced to more than 26 years in prison. Shawn Williams, who is no relation to the victim, was found not guilty of second-degree murder.
"You show a lot of potential," Marrinan told Schiell. "Give it your best shot."
