A Hugo teenager has been identified as the driver killed in a fiery one-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Stillwater Township.

The Ramsey County medical examiner on Thursday identified the victim as Daniel Lindquist, 17. Lindquist's body was found in the burning car shortly after 4 a.m. near the 9400 block of Mendel Road N.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office received a call of a burning car in a ditch in the area. Emergency responders arrived six minutes later, and Stillwater firefighters put out the flames and discovered Lindquist.

The car had apparently left the road on a sharp curve and hit a tree before stopping in a field, according to deputies.

The Minnesota State Patrol is helping the Sheriff's Office reconstruct the crash.

Lindquist's official cause of death has not yet been determined, pending toxicology reports, according to the medical examiner.
