A public hearing regarding the proposed replacement of the Hwy. 52 Lafayette Bridge in St. Paul will be held today at Metropolitan State University.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation project includes constructing two bridges for northbound and southbound traffic, reconstructing bridge approaches, redecking the bridge over Plato Boulevard, improving connections to Interstate 94 at the north end, and adding a pedestrian and bicycle trail over the Mississippi River on the east side of the northbound span.

Construction would begin in 2011.

Copies of environmental assessment documents will be available for review at the hearing. For additional information about the project or to sign up for e-mail updates, visit www.tinyurl.com/dxrd9y.

The hearing will be in the Great Hall of the New Main Building, 700 E. 7th St., 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
