A man shot multiple times died Tuesday night in what was believed to be a drive-by shooting in north Minneapolis.

Police were called about 6:30 p.m. to the 3900 block of Fremont Avenue N. to investigate a possible shooting. A man with gunshot wounds was found behind a home and taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where he died, according to police spokesman John Elder.

The shooting was the 20th homicide in Minneapolis this year, Elder said.

Minneapolis reported at least 32 homicides for the entire year in 2014, down from 40 in 2013, according to the department's Uniform Crime Report summary.

Tuesday's shooting doesn't appear to be random, Elder said. Immediately after the shooting, a car was seen headed north on Fremont, he said.

No arrests have been made.

The man's identity will be released by the Hennepin County medical examiner.
