The work for kids that won last year's Minnesota Book Award in Children's Literature is being featured in Washington County libraries in March.

It's part of a statewide one-book program for prekindergarten children.

A number of events will center on the book "Moo!," written by David LaRochelle and illustrated by Mike Wohnoutka, both Minnesotans.

The book follows the adventures of Cow after she decides to go on a wild ride.

The writer and illustrator will travel the county sharing a puppet show retelling of "Moo!," plus dancing, group storytelling and drawing.

The show is aimed at families and groups with children ages 6 and under. No registration is required.

Times and places: 2 p.m. March 15 at Hardwood Creek Library (Forest Lake); 10:30 a.m. March 21 at R.H. Stafford Library (Woodbury); and 3 p.m. March 21 at Park Grove Library (Cottage Grove).

Once Upon a Reader is sponsored by the Council of Regional Public Library System Administrators and funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment. For more on the program, visit www.onceuponareader.org.
