The driver who allegedly ran over and killed a man who was walking along a dark western Wisconsin highway, then left the scene, has been arrested.

The 33-year-old man from Barron, Wis., and his vehicle were located later Thursday after Logan L. Paulson, 26, of Almena, Wis., was hit by the vehicle "sometime during the night" along Hwy. 8 near the southern tip of Upper Turtle Lake, said Capt. Ron Baures of the Barron County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect remains jailed ahead of charges this week, which could include homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle, Baures said.

Paulson's body was discovered about 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Baures said. He was a full-time card dealer at the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, about 3 miles west of where his body was found. An executive with the casino said he last worked on Jan. 24.
