A former Visitation High School tennis coach charged with sexually assaulting a student was jailed over Thanksgiving for violating a harassment restraining order by allegedly appearing outside an office where the student was undergoing therapy.

Daniel Erik Hubbard Wilson, 27, was booked into the Hennepin County jail on Wednesday and released Saturday on $10,000 bail after contacting the girl he allegedly sexually assaulted for a year. Wilson was charged Monday in Hennepin County District Court with a misdemeanor for violating the restraining order obtained by the girl's father in Ramsey County.

Janel Dressen, an attorney representing the girl and her family in the restraining order, said that Wilson showed up outside the girl's therapist's office on Wednesday. Someone in the office called police when they found Wilson and the girl in a car together.

"He's shown that he has no regard for the law or the court order," Dressen said.

In addition to the restraining order, Wilson also had no-contact orders filed against him in two Ramsey County cases involving the girl.

Wilson's attorney in those cases, Eric Olson, could not be reached for comment.

Wilson was charged in early October in Ramsey County with first-degree criminal sexual conduct and third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly sexually assaulting the girl when she was 15. He coached the girl, now 17, at school and also worked as her private coach.

The harassment restraining order against him was served on Oct. 6, the same day he posted $20,000 bail in the sexual assault case. Later that month, Wilson was charged in Ramsey County with a felony for violating the restraining order by allegedly tricking the girl into following him on social media and then meeting with her.

Wilson also allegedly tried to convince the girl to change information that led to the rape case against him, according to the Ramsey County charge filed in late October.

Wilson appeared in Ramsey County on Monday in the sexual assault case, where bail was set at $50,000 because of the Hennepin County case. He was immediately arrested, but posted bail by early afternoon, the fourth time in three months he has been freed on bail.

Dressen, who attended the hearing where an assistant Ramsey County attorney argued for $100,000 bail, said the girl's family believes Wilson's bail was too low.

"They're very upset," he said. The girl was seeing the therapist because of the sexual assault case, Dressen said.

Wilson's history of violating the restraining order and no-contact orders is concerning, Dressen said. In addition to the Nov. 26 incident, Wilson showed up outside the Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center on Nov. 17 five minutes after the girl had left a lesson. Wilson was involved in a minor car accident in the parking lot.

"Clearly he was attempting to have contact with her," Dressen said of that incident.

As part of the restraining order case in civil court, a judge ordered Wilson to turn over all of his cellphones, computers and electronic devices. Dressen said Wilson turned over some electronics, but is withholding a laptop.

"We're still concerned that he's destroying and/or hiding evidence," Dressen said.
