Robbers shot up a pawnshop near a busy Roseville intersection Monday evening, wounding an employee and then fleeing with jewels and watches from a smashed display case, authorities said.

The robbery occurred about 5:45 p.m. Monday at the Pawn America on Rice Street, just north of Larpenteur Avenue, police said.

A 27-year-old employee was shot in the leg, police added.

The two robbers fled in a Chevrolet Cobalt and remained at large Tuesday.

One man opened fire immediately upon coming through the door, wounding the employee, police said. His accomplice smashed a glass display case and grabbed jewelry and watches. When they left, they drove west on Larpenteur toward Dale Street.
