A 20-year-old St. Paul man turned himself in Friday night after being pursued by police for several hours Friday afternoon when officials said he threatened his girlfriend during a domestic dispute at a Roseville hotel, then fled into a nearby office building.

The armed man apparently stormed into a room before noon at the Residence Inn in the 2900 block of Centre Pointe Drive and allegedly assaulted his 19-year-old girlfriend, who had been staying with her family, said Lt. Lorne Rosand of the Roseville Police Department.

When police were called, the man, wanted for outstanding arrest warrants, fled to the nearby Symantec Software Corp. office building.

Employees were moved to another building. Several other businesses in the office park, including the Courtyard Marriott hotel, were on a lockdown Friday afternoon. Police cordoned off the area, and a SWAT team was called to the scene, Rosand said.

Police searched the area and buildings for three hours, but did not find the man. They left the scene about 4:30 p.m. after clearing the buildings and surrounding area. The man later turned himself in to the St. Paul Police Department.
