Larry E. Miller was charged Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court with second-degree attempted murder for shooting a woman over an argument about money.

Miller, 32, address unknown, shot the 27-year-old woman on Oct. 7 because she saw his friend take money from him and told him so, charges said. A bullet lodged in the woman's spine and could not be removed.

According to the complaint: Miller arrived at the woman's St. Paul apartment and drove her and her friend to another friend's house near Larpenteur Avenue and Jackson Street.

The victim saw Miller's friend take Miller's money, the charges said. She told Miller on the drive back to her apartment, and Miller yelled at her. The victim's friend told the victim to leave Miller alone because he was drunk and angry about the money, the charges allege.

The victim's friend and her boyfriend were leaving when they saw Miller and the victim arguing. They then heard a gunshot, the complaint said. The friend and her boyfriend drove back to the apartment building in the 1500 block of Marion Avenue and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the neck.

The victim was transported to Regions Hospital with a large wound to her neck and the base of her skull. Doctors could not remove the bullet lodged in her spine, according to the complaint.

Other witnesses told police they saw or heard part of the argument and saw the car flee the scene.
