A St. Paul man and his friends allegedly beckoned a woman to their car, robbed her of her cellphone and dragged her to the sidewalk where she was assaulted, according to charges filed in Ramsey County District Court.

One of the suspects also urinated on the woman, the charges said.

Miklos T. Dates Jr., 18, is charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct in the case. The victim identified him in a photo lineup as the suspect who drove the car and who took her iPhone, charges said.

According to the complaint: The woman was standing in the 500 block of Farrington St. in St. Paul on Oct. 7 talking on her phone. About 7:30 a.m. a car with four men wearing wigs stopped in front of her. The woman thought they were women at first.

"How do we get back to University Avenue?" one of the suspects asked her.

The woman approached the driver's door, and Dates pulled her toward the car. Three suspects got out of the car as Dates grabbed the phone from her, charges said.

A suspect who had been sitting in the back passenger side pulled her by her hair to the sidewalk, pushed her down and urinated on her, according to the complaint. The suspects pulled down her pants before she was urinated on, the charges said, and laughed afterward. They fled in the vehicle.

The woman feared she was going to be raped, according to the complaint, and suffered a cut on her wrist and above her right eye.

Police officers spotted the suspect car about 9:51 p.m. that day and traced it back to an unreturned Enterprise rental car. Police found the victim's cellphone in the trunk, which Dates said belonged to someone he knew, the charges said.

The victim's friend called the phone while it was in police custody, and informed the officer who answered that it was stolen, the complaint said.
