A St. Paul man was convicted Wednesday in a 2012 murder in Frogtown that seriously wounded two other men.

Jonathan J. Corbett, 19, was convicted by a jury in Ramsey County district court of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. He was acquitted on one count of attempted second-degree murder for a shot that grazed a man. (One of the assault convictions is for this incident.)

According to court documents: Corbett and his brother, Carl A. Wilks, 28, were in a home in the 500 block of Thomas Avenue on Sept. 21. A woman and her two young children arrived at the home to see a new baby.

Wilks started badmouthing the woman's friend and the woman asked him to stop, court documents said. Wilks threatened the woman, and her 8-year-old snuck out to get help from the woman's boyfriend and family from a home across the street.

Corbett and Wilks pointed guns at the woman inside the house and the family members who arrived outside to help, charges said. The woman and her second child eventually left safely.

Later that night, Wilks went over to the family's house to speak with Michael R. Henderson, 46. Wilks and Henderson left the home, along with other men. When they got to the sidewalk, Corbett fired a handgun at the men, charges said.

Henderson was shot in the chest and died on Oct. 1 after being removed from life support. Two other men were wounded. One man was shot in the base of the neck and right shoulder. A second man was shot multiple times in the stomach.

A fourth man was grazed by a bullet.

Wilks was convicted in September of two counts of second-degree murder. He received three years in prison for each count. The sentences will run concurrently.

Corbett is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 20.
