The 2012-13 school year was the last for the old Wildwood Elementary School in Mahtomedi, and as the School District prepares to open a new building this fall, it is inviting people to reminisce about the school's now former home.

Memories are being collected on the district's website (www.mahtomedi.k12.mn.us) for publication there on Aug. 15.

Wildwood was built in 1959 and is being replaced by a new facility fewer than 2 miles away at 8698 75th St. N. in Grant.

The school's summer operations were switched to the new building last Monday, and a community celebration is planned for Aug. 20.

An open house also will be held Aug. 29, followed by the start of school on Sept. 3.

The district said it will collect memories of the old facility until Aug. 1.

It is asking people to keep the comments "positive, family-friendly and fun."
