Work will consist of installing a storm sewer system along the west end of Lowell Park parking lots and a series of pumping manholes. Work will begin on the south end of the project at Nelson Street and proceed north.

The contractor is required to complete construction on one parking lot before working on the next. Work on the entire project will be completed by Aug. 31. The city then will begin reconstruction of parking lots from Nelson Street to Laurel Street.

Sleeping under stars at Loveland Park

In conjunction with the Great American Backyard Camp-out, Newport on the Move will be sponsoring a free family camp-out at Loveland Park on Saturday, June 22, through Sunday, June 23. Loveland Park is located on Glen Road and Century Avenue on the east side of Hwy. 61.

This event will provide an experience for all generations to connect with nature and enjoy one of the city’s beautiful parks. Bring your own tents, camping gear, lawn chairs, outdoor games and food and come for a relaxed afternoon and overnight stay sharing nature with other families and friends.

There will be some planned nature activities and crafts. You may arrive any time after 2 p.m. and stay through breakfast on Sunday. If you can’t spend the night, come for the afternoon and stay through the evening campfire. S’mores will be provided. To sign up, call 651-459-3066.
