The parents of Kira Trevino implored residents Friday to keep searching for their missing daughter and urged anyone with information to contact police.

Kira Trevino, 30, who was last seen on Feb. 21, is presumed dead. Despite searches by community members and law enforcement officials, she has not been found.

Her husband Jeffery Trevino, 39, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in her disappearance. His trial is scheduled to begin May 28.

At an afternoon news conference, Kira Trevino's family accompanied by police asked for people to take a moment when doing their normal outdoor activities to search areas or possibly participate in weekend group searches.

"We want to do anything we can to get our daughter home.," said Jay Steger, Kira Trevino's father.

Authorities announced that the St. Paul Police Foundation was contributing $5,000 for information leading to the location of Kira Trevino.

"We'd love to be able to bring some good news," said St. Paul police spokesman Howie Padilla, at the news conference. "Right now we can't, but that doesn't mean we're stopping at all."

Police are going to continue to follow up on leads, Padilla said. So far more than 260 tips have been recorded on the police tip line.

Marcie Steger, Kira Trevino's mother, said she could only imagine what the family of missing Eden Prairie woman Mandy Matula was going through.

"It's something that no one else can understand if you're not in the situation," Marcie Steger said. "Some days I don't even understand it, but I have to get through it … We need to do it for Kira."

With Trevino's trial date approaching, prosecutors filed a list Thursday of 230 potential witnesses they might call at trial. The list includes the Trevinos' roommate at the time of Kira's disappearance, Matthew Roff, Kira's parents and friends, and several employees of Delia's and other shops at the Mall of America.

Anyone with information can call police at 651-560-3277.
