Suspicious activity. Children waiting for a school bus in the 15000 block of Jeffrey Avenue became frightened and hid in the basement of their home when an unfamiliar vehicle was driven onto their driveway. The person in the vehicle was a friend picking up a snowmobile from the back yard. The children missed their bus and police drove them to school.
Dumping complaint. A large bag containing two dead geese was reported in the area of 150th Street and Generation Avenue. Police notified Public Works to pick up the bag.
Vehicle went through ice. Police received a report of a vehicle that had broken through the ice on Lake Demontreville near the boat launch. The vehicle was able to drive away as it happened about a foot from shore.
Stuck vehicle. An officer put down sand and helped push out a vehicle that was stuck sideways in the road in the area of Quant Avenue and 12th Street.
Noise disturbance. A resident in the 1700 block of Quentin Avenue complained to police about the noise her neighbor's grandchildren make. The complainant said her enjoyment of living is being compromised by the noise. Police advised it is not an enforceable ordinance if the noise is reasonable and falls within daytime hours.
Motor vehicle theft. A 1996 Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot of Century College, 3300 Century Av. The vehicle was found several days later in St. Paul.
Traffic accident/violation. The driver of a vehicle looked down to change his iPod and rear-ended a school bus that was stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Stillwater Boulevard and Granada Avenue. The occupants of the bus, two juveniles and two adults, were unharmed. The driver of the vehicle injured his knee in the accident. He was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign along with inattentive driving.
Theft. An 18-year-old man was cited for shoplifting after he tried to steal paint balls from Mills Fleet Farm, 5635 Hadley Av.
Injured animal. An officer was dispatched to the 7500 block of 12th Street on a report of an injured raptor found in a back yard. The resident had a red-tailed hawk in a box with unknown injuries. The officer transported the bird to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota and released it to their care.
Suspicious activity. Someone in the 7600 block of 15th Street called police to complain about bike tire tracks in his front yard.
Snowmobile hazard. Police responded to a report of an illegal fence in the 22000 block of Meadowbrook Avenue. The resident told police she put the fence up to keep snowmobiles off her property. She agreed to remove it.
Shoplifting. A man was arrested for possession of a fifth-degree controlled substance after police were called to a possible shoplifting in progress at Kohl's, 7100 Valley Creek Plaza. The man was observed on camera throwing items into some bushes when approached by an officer after leaving the store. The items were recovered and determined to be meth. He was not charged with shoplifting.
