The Tartan Theatre will present "A Christmas Story" beginning Friday and continuing through Dec. 2 at the Tartan Auditorium.
"A Christmas Story" is the dramatic adaptation of the popular holiday film recalling the ups and downs of being a kid. The stage version, like the movie, is based on the short stories of Jean Shepherd.
Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Nov. 29-Dec. 1. Matinees are set for 2 p.m. on Nov. 25 and Dec. 2.
Tickets are on sale at the Tartan Theatre box office at tickets.tartantheatre.org. They are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $6 for students.
The Tartan High School Auditorium is at 828 Greenway Av. N. in Oakdale.
A Christmas decorating party will be held at the historic Fillebrown House from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
The public is invited to pitch in for a morning of decorating for upcoming holiday events. Refreshments and music will help set the mood.

"Drawing Connections to Nature: Artwork by Young Women At Risk" is a new exhibit underway at the St. Croix River Visitor Center in St. Croix Falls, Wis.
The showing, on display through Dec. 31, features drawings and photos by the girls of Northwest Passage III, a residential treatment facility in Frederic, Wis., for adolescent females ages 12-17 who face emotional and mental health issues.

Art by painter Tom McGregor is on display in the Lakeview Hospital Art Gallery through November.
In the hospital setting, art has been shown to reduce stress and promote healing, so the art gallery features monthly shows by local artists.
The gallery is on the first floor, across from the Lakeview Heart Center. The public can view the exhibit any day between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
