Stillwater is known for its charming places to eat, drink and shop, and the annual Taste of Stillwater will showcase several of them in one spot.
Alison Scott, Midnight Mo and High & Mighty will provide live music as guests roam the grounds of the St. Croix Vineyards and Aamodt's Apple Farm at 6428 Manning Av. N.
Ticket holders 21 and older will be able to try four wines from St. Croix Vineyards: Pinot Gris, Seyval, Summer Red and Frontenac. They'll also be able to sample six varieties of beers from the Lift Bridge Brewery, including Farm Girl Saison, Chestnut Hill Brown Ale, Hop Dish IPA and its newest brew, Root Beer.
Culvers, Mari Mi, Olive Garden, Poorboy Candy, Rustic Stillwater Pies, the Cave Cafe and the Waffle Van/Bikery du Nord will be among the vendors at the festival, which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Several merchants also will sell their wares.
Tickets are $20 in advance if ordered at www.tasteofstillwater.com or $30 at the gate. Tickets for ages 20 and younger are $5 if ordered online, or $10 at the gate.St. Croix Garden tour marks 20th anniversary
It will be a blast from the past on the 2012 St. Croix Garden Tour.
In celebrating its 20th anniversary, the self-guided tour will take participants to 11 residential gardens in the Stillwater area that have been popular on past tours. Gardens will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Ages 12 and younger are free.
The event is a fundraiser for Family Means, a service agency that has provided help to families in the St. Croix Valley since 1963. For information call 651-439-4840 or see www.familymeans.org.
The Hardwood Creek Library will hold a "Make Your Own Cosmetics" event for teens from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
Participants will use safe and simple ingredients to create do-it-yourself makeup products and pick up recipes to try at home. The library is at 19955 N. Forest Road.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Loft Theater where Woodbury Community Theater will stage the beloved L. Frank Baum musical, "The Wizard of Oz."
Directed by Lenore Weir, the show opens at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. next Sunday at East Ridge High School, 4200 Pioneer Drive. Performances will run through July 21.
Tickets are $10 to $15. A "Punch and Munch" with the cast featuring autographs, photos, children's activities and refreshments will be held at 1:30 p.m. next Sunday. Tickets for that are $5. For information see www.woodburycommunitytheatre.org.
The Youth Service Bureau holds its 23rd "Tee One Up for Kids" golf tournament Thursday at Tartan Park. Fees are $150 for individuals and $450 for foursomes, and include 18 holes, games and a picnic dinner.
