• Moved to Madison, Wis., at age 1½; came to Minnesota in 2002.

• Competed for a Davidson Fellows scholarship last year; developed a new conjecture in math, working with professors at the University of Minnesota.

• Spent the past two summers as a research assistant at a Chicago hospital. Assisted in a study of the enzyme arylsulfatase B. Helped find a more efficient way to analyze small samples of the enzyme, which is often difficult and expensive to obtain.

• Enjoys math puzzles and playing video games.
