The power is back on in most of the east metro after a failure at a Woodbury substation this morning left thousands in the dark.

Officials are not sure what caused the blackout, which was reported at 6:15 a.m. and left nearly 24,000 customers in the Woodbury and Oakdale area without power, said Tom Hoen, an Xcel Energy spokesman.

Power was restored around 8:30 a.m.
