Is the water safe to drink?

Last update: October 17, 2007 - 5:32 PM

The Minnesota Department of Health has issued a drinking-water advisory to about 20 residents of Cottage Grove south of Hwy. 10 but no advisories elsewhere in southern Washington County. Anyone else concerned about the quality of their drinking water should consider installing carbon filters, said Ginny Yingling, a Health Department hydrogeologist.

The Minnesota Legislature appropriated about $400,000 for the state to hire a laboratory to conduct an independent evaluation of filter types. Preliminary results should be available later this year, Yingling said.
