Matthew Anderson, 29, was not kidnapped and left Minnesota on his own, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said.
A Shoreview man who was the subject of a multistate search after his family reported him missing has been found safe in Las Vegas.
Matthew Anderson, 29, was not kidnapped, a statement from the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said Friday. He was in good medical condition when he was found by Las Vegas police.
"The investigation revealed that Anderson left Minnesota on his own volition and traveled to Nevada via Chicago," according to Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Holli Drinkwine. Anderson's family was informed of the developments Friday.
A week ago, Anderson's wife, Amber, reported him missing. She told authorities that her husband called her about 7 p.m. and said he was being kidnapped. She told authorities that Anderson spoke in hushed tones, and said he was somewhere in Iowa. Authorities later determined the call came from near the Wisconsin Dells.
On Sunday, his van was found in downtown Chicago. And on Monday, the Sheriff's Office said that he was alone when he withdrew $1,000 from a Roseville bank on the afternoon he was reported missing. He was later seen that day at the Rosewood Village Apartments, where he is a maintenance man. Amber Anderson did not return a call for comment Friday night.
