The University of St. Thomas released a public safety alert Thursday after a student was robbed at gunpoint on Grand Avenue.
According to the alert and police, about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday a 19-year-old student reported she was walking west on Grand Avenue when a man walking north on Finn Street stopped her near the intersection.
The student said the man displayed a small handgun and said, "Don't reach in your purse. How much money do you have?"
The man took the student's phone and purse before heading south on Finn Street.
St. Paul police are investigating the case. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call 651 291-1111.
