Aldo Sicoli, superintendent of Robbinsdale Area Schools, has been named superintendent of Roseville Area Schools.

Sicoli replaces John Thein who is retiring after 27 years with the Roseville district.

Sicoli is scheduled to finish out the school year with the Robbinsdale district before moving to the Roseville post.

"I am deeply honored that the Roseville Area Schools board placed their faith in me and offered me the position. This is a once-in-a -lifetime opportunity for me to go back home. I have always had a connection to Roseville because of my time as a student, student teacher and coach in this district. I am looking forward to the new challenges. I know that I will miss working with the amazing people at Robbinsdale Area Schools," said Sicoli.

The Robbinsdale school board is scheduled to discuss the search for Sicoli's replacement on Monday.

"We are thankful for Dr. Sicoli's leadership over the past six years at Robbinsdale Area Schools," said Sherry Tyrrell, school board chair. "Under Dr. Sicoli's leadership, our district is stronger than ever and preparing even more students for a successful future. Although we hate to lose Dr. Sicoli, we wish him well with this new position."
