It's just too cold, so MnDOT has called off work planned for Wednesday on I-35W in Minneapolis. A spokesman tells the Drive that it could be rescheduled for later this week when temperatures are supposed to be higher.

Had today's weather been conducive for outdoor work, crews would have reduced the freeway to a single lane from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from University Avenue and the Johnson Street exit. Periodic closures of the University Avenue/4th Street entrance and Hennepin Avenue exit ramps were scheduled.

Crews had planned to restripe northbound 35W and complete work associated with the new ramp from 4th Street to northbound 35W. The work along the stretch also includes a new auxiliary lane from University Avenue to the Johnson Street exit, a redesigned Johnson Street exit to serve Johnson Street, New Brighton Boulevard and Stinson Boulevard, and a noise wall on the west side of I-35W between Broadway Street Northeast and Johnson Street.
