A violent rush hour saw at least two rollover crashes that tangled traffic in the north metro.

The first occurred about 6:40 a.m. on westbound Hwy. 610 in Brooklyn Park where a vehicle flipped and blocked both lanes. Traffic was able to scoot around the carnage by using the right shoulder. No injuries were reported with the wreck, which had traffic bound up as far back as Noble Pkwy. That cleared about 7:30 a.m.

Not far away, three vehicles collided on eastbound Hwy. 10 at Round Lake Blvd. and one of those vehicles rolled over. Authorities closed the highway at 7th Avenue in Anoka while the cleared the wreckage. The shut down had traffic stacked up to Ferry Street in Anoka. The lanes reopened around 7:50 a.m. At present, traffic is moving along swiftly through Coon Rapids.

A spate of wrecks also held up commuters on other key routes. Westbound Hwy. 36 saw traffic jams from Hwy. 61 over to Rice Street where a crash blocked the left lane for about an hour during the peak of the commute.

Northbound 35W also had a wreck at 110th Street in Bloomington, leading to tight conditions and more than a 30-minute drive to downtown Minneapolis between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m. A couple wrecks on eastbound 94 in Maple Grove also made for longer-than-normal drive times.

Blue Line riders are experiencing delays as a mechanical issue with a train is causing 15 to 20-minute delays, Metro Transit says. Spokesman Drew Kerr was unsure of the specifics, but said a train had to be removed from service, which was the reason for the delays. The train broke down in the area of Target Field Station. Riders, both northbound and southbound, can expect delays for the next hour, the agency said.
