Keeping tabs on Tuesday's morning commute

Good morning, commuters!

It's back to school today as classes at the University of Minnesota begin and thousands head back to class as public schools also start today. That means more traffic on the roads and more pedestrians around schools.

The first few days of the school year have the potential to bring more congestion as people get back into their fall routines.

Maple Grove Transit resumes Route 789 service from the Maple Grove Transit Station to the University of Minnesota today.

On the roads, an overturned semitrailer truck has the ramp from northbound 494 to eastbound 94 in Maple Grove closed.

We've also got a stall on eastbound 94 on the Hudson Bridge in the left lane.

And here's a heads up for drivers who use Roselawn Avenue. The road will be closed at Interstate 35E as crews set bridge beams for the new northbound I-35E bridge at 7 a.m. During the closure, a posted detour will direct motorists to use Rice Street, Highway 36 and Edgerton Street.

I’ll be keeping an eye on the roads and rails this morning, reporting any delays or issues — and I will need your help.

If you see or hear about any congestion, delays or problems, e-mail drive@startribune or tweet @stribdrive.
