The Drive will keep you up to speed with the latest on Twin Cities commuting.

9 a.m. update: Rush hour wrap up

Friday's drive to work was a nice one compared to what commuters endured during Thursday's deluge and assorted road closures.

This morning saw light levels of traffic and no crashes to delay the trip to the office. Yesterday's rain, however, did leave a couple giant potholes behind on northbound Cedar Avenue just north of I-494 in Richfield. A number of drivers found them and as a result got flat tires and rim damage.

MnDOT is on the scene attending to the craters and the vehicles.

An early crash on northbound 35W at Cliff Road created a bit of drama around 6 a.m. and two lanes where shut down as emergency vehicles arrived. That cleared out and was the only problem of the morning that caused any backups of significance.

Minneapolis' Minnehaha Parkway at Cedar remains closed as does West River Parkway from Franklin Avenue to 13th Avenue due to the flooding.

As we head into the weekend, look for lots of hot rods and classic cars in the vicinity of the State Fairgrounds. The Back to the 50s weekend begins today.  I'll have your weekend out look around lunch time.
