Drivers on southbound 494 may see extra company today as a new road project begins on Hwy. 169 in Edina.

The barricades are up on southbound Hwy. 169 at Bren Road and they'll be there for a couple weeks. The highway is closed down to the Crosstown and traffic is being detoured west on I-394 over to 494 and the south to Hwy. 169.

Southbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 62 and Valley View Road is closed until early July.

Over in White Bear Lake, look for single lane traffic on Hwy. 61. Starting at 7 a.m., both directions of Hwy 61 between White Bear Avenue and just north of Hwy 96 will be reduced to one lane.

Look for some scattered showers to move into the metro area during the morning rush, which is off to a quiet start.  Overnight road projects have cleared so the aforementioned projects are the big ones that will affect commuters.

We have not crashes or incidents at this hour, so enjoy the open roads.
