No serious injuries in south Minneapolis rollover crash

Here's an update about this morning's rollover crash on Diamond Lake Road and Stevens Avenue in south Minneapolis.

The preliminary cause is that a motorist ran a red light, according to Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder.  The incident is still under investigation.

The good news is that nobody was seriously hurt. There were a couple minor injuries and one person did transport themselves to the hospital, Elder said.

Police responded to the crash about 7:45 a.m. at intersection of Stevens Avenue and Diamond Lake Road in south Minneapolis.

Stevens runs parallel to I-35W and serves as a collector street for traffic exiting from and accessing 35W. Traffic was impeded for about 30 minutes.

With all the debris in the intersection and the mangled car upside down, this could have turned out a lot worse.
