The Minnesota Twins return home with a winning record to host the Detroit Tigers in games Friday through Sunday at Target Field in downtown Minneapolis. Here is parking information.

Over in St. Paul, the Minnesota Swarm, major league lacrosse, host Toronto at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul and the weather should be decent for the annual St. Paul Art Crawl.

And the first big running races of the season commence.

Getting those events could be a bit tricky as two major thoroughfares will have weekend shutdown, I-94 in St. Paul and the Crosstown in Edina.

Interstate 94 closure in St. Paul

In St. Paul, westbound I-94 will be shut down between Hwy. 61 and Interstate 35E from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Eastbound will be closed from Hwy. 61 to I-35E.

Both directions of Hwy. 52 over the new Lafayette Bridge will remain open as crews take down portions of the old bridge. But motorists heading north on Hwy. 52 will not be able to access westbound I-94.

Drivers on southbound 35E will be able get onto southbound Hwy. 52, but access via the intersection of W. 7th Street at Hwy. 52 will be closed.

Here are the detours the Minnesota Department of Transportation suggests to bypass the closures:

  • Eastbound I-94: Northbound I-35E to eastbound I-694 to I-94.
  • Westbound I-94: Westbound I-694 to southbound I-35E or southbound Hwy 61 to westbound I-494 to Hwy. 52

Crosstown closure

Both directions of the Crosstown, also known as Hwy. 62, will shut down from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday between I-35W and Hwy. 100 in Edina. Crews will be installing deck panels for the new Xerxes Avenue Bridge.

Eastbound traffic from 35W will be allowed to access France Avenue for the purpose of reaching Fairview Southdale Hospital only. All other motorists need to follow detours or find alternate routes.

Here are the posted detours from MnDOT:

Westbound Crosstown traffic will be detoured south on 35W to I-494, then west to Hwy. 100 and back north to the Crosstown.

Eastbound Crosstown traffic will be detour south on Hwy. 100 to I-494, then east to 35W and north back to the Crosstown.

Minneapolis Parkway closures

It's spring, and the first of the almost-weekly running races or three will begin this weekend on Minneapolis Parkways.

Up first is the Get in Gear race on West River Parkway. The road will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday from Lake Street to Godfrey Pkwy. near Minnehaha Park.

Be on alert elsewhere on the Grand Rounds system of parkways. Volunteers will be participating in the Earth Day Cleanup between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday on the following parkways: Webber Parkway and North Mississippi Connection, Cedar Lake Parkway, Lake Harriet Parkway, Lake Calhoun Parkway, the Lake Calhoun Isles connector, Lake of the Isles Parkway, Dean Parkway, Minnehaha Creek Parkway, West River Parkway and Lake Nokomis Parkway.

Concrete repair on Univeristy Avenue

Work on reparing concrete at intersections along the Metro Green Line continues this weekend. Expect delays and some detours along University Avenue between Rice Street and Hampden Avenue.
