The morning rush hour was uneventful in the eastern and southern suburbs, but snow added a bit of drama to the commute for those in the northern and western suburbs.

A handful of spinouts and wrecks occurred on I-94 between St. Cloud and Rogers while few spinout popped up on ramps in the western metro after 8 a.m.

A wreck on 494 in Bloomington at France Avenue tied up traffic during the 7 a.m. hour with delays reaching back to Hwy. 169. That also made the drive on northbound 169 slower than normal. The incident lasted about 45 minutes.

Elsewhere traffic levels were helped by the fact that the University of Minnesota is on spring break this week.

No problems were reported on buses or light-rail trains this morning. Northstar trains ran on schedule.

The drama this morning over at the U of M is only a test. See my earlier post about the light rail emergency drill that begins at 9 a.m.
