Heavy snowfalls have been testing area roofs -- with a Duluth mall, a Hayward bar and a Ramsey business failing.

A section of the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth was roped off and a handful of stores were closed this weekend after ceilings bowed Friday under the weight of several feet of snow.

The mall's general manager, Katie Altrichter, passed along this update by e-mail Monday:

Also on Friday, the roof of the Nauti Pine in Hayward collapsed. On the bar's Facebook page, the owners said that the bar had been closed since December. "We had it winterized since Christmas. (Apparently not enough for this winter)," they wrote. "Not going to open this spring."

In Ramsey, the roof of Pro Power Sports & Marine Workers collapsed Friday. Workers there saw the roof begin to sag, "and then they heard rivets pop," according to WCCO.

"It came down and blew me right off my feet," an employee said, according to the TV station. No one was hurt.
