An animal dealer from Wells, Minn., is not admitting guilt, but will shut down his dog-selling operation as part of a settlement with U.S. Department of Agriculture.

According to court documents reviewed by the Mankato Free Press, Ken Schroeder had failed to provide officials access to his facility in Wells eight times. He obtained seven dogs from unauthorized sources and had substandard housing and sanitation.

The settlement agreement includes his accepting a requirement to cease his operations and have his federal license revoked. Wells is located between Albert Lea and Mankato.
