The morning commute was a breeze, but the drive home might be different story. Word from meteorologist Paul Douglas is that snow is expected to move into the metro area this afternoon and drop enough to gum up the roads.

Commuters enjoyed relatively dry roads this morning and that greatly reduced the number of crashes. Authorities reported only a handful of spin outs.

The one big crash of the morning tangles traffic on westbound 494 at Portland Avenue in Bloomington for about 20 minutes. The three vehicle crash around 7:55 a.m. took out the center and left lanes. Traffic stacked up to Cedar Avenue.

In Otsego, authorities are on the scene of an apparent fatal wreck on County Road 37 west of Hwy. 101. The road remains closed.

Today, look for the left lane of northbound 35E from Pennsylvania Avenue to Maryland Avenue to be closed until noon. That might cause backups for drivers using the ramp from eastbound 94 to northbound 35E in downtown St. Paul. The work should wrap up at noon.

Currently we have a stall blocking a lane on eastbound Crosstown between Lyndale Avenue and Portland Avenue.
