With temperatures expected to be in the 30s on Saturday, MnDOT plans to give concrete work on the Lafayette Bridge another go.

The agency will close the northbound lanes of Hwy. 52 between Concord and 7th Streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday so crews can pour concrete for the new northbound bridge. The bridge spans the Mississippi River on the east end of downtown St. Paul.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to use the current bridge as a platform.

The work was to have been done last weekend, but when temperatures the fell well below zero MnDOT called it off.

While the southbound lanes will remain open, restrictions still remain. No vehicle or combination of a vehicle and trailer longer than 35 feet is allowed on Hwy. 52 between 7th Street and Plato Blvd.

The recommended detour for northbound drivers and prohibited vehicles takes prohibited vehicles along Hwy. 61, I-494 and I-94.
