Temperatures that fell below freezing during the morning rush hour caused highways and freeways to ice up and that led to numerous spin outs, crashes and lots of congestion.

Many drivers doubled their normal commute times, especially on I-494 in the west metro. Eastbound 94 was plugged from the Hudson Bridge to downtown Minneapolis for most of the rush.

Two rollovers on Hwy. 169 at Marschall Road in Shakopee made for a difficult for northbound drivers from Shakopee into Bloomington. Eastbound 694 between Brooklyn Blvd. and Shingle Creek Pkwy. was a hotspot with two separate accidents tangling traffic during the 7 a.m. hour.

In Rogers, bumper to bumper conditions made for a 30 minute trip into the metro area along westbound 94.

At the present, a wreck on southbound Hwy .252 at Brookdale Drive is slowing traffic coming down from Hwy. 610. Eastbound 94 hits the skids approaching Huron Blvd. where two vehicles are off on the right shoulder.

Southbound 494 continues to sputter from the Fish Lake Interchange down to Hwy. 7. That is 35 minutes. Northbound is 20 minutes.

Hwy. 100 jams in both directions between 50th Street in Edina and 36th Avenue in Crystal.
