Teen driving clinic coming to Blaine this weekend

By far, teenagers are the most likely to be involved in an auto accident according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

A  hands-on driving clinic stopping at the National Sports Center Saturday and Sunday is aimed at giving young drivers the knowledge and tools to keep them from becoming a statistic.

The Bridgestone Teens Drive Smart Tour pairs licensed drivers (or those with a permit) ages 15 to 21 with a professional motorsports drivers as coaches who will instruct participants on how to make split-second decisions, control their vehicle on wet and dry pavement, and emergency braking situations. The course also will address situations that occur due to distracted driving.

Students will drive BMW's, which will be provided.

Sessions will start at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. both days. There is no cost, but registration at www.teensdrivesmarttour.com is required.

The National Sports Center is at 1700 105th Av. NE. in Blaine.
